Installation on dell inspiron 6400

I just have bought Dell inspiron laptop & try to install festy fawn 7.04.
My config :
- Core 2 duo
- ati radeon x1400 on wide screen 1440*900
- Inte pro wireless 3945 abg C (ipw3945) + bluetooth

When kdm start, i have a black screen.
I have tried to boot with "live vga=791 noapic nolapic" (771 too) but that's the same problem again.
I have tried Rescue mode install without any sucess.

I have use alternat-cd and installation works very well in text mode.
But my ati x1400 isn't recognized even if i make "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg"with ati driver (on).

Hey Woka:

I had a similar issue where I had to use the Text-based installer for an Inspiron 9400. The problem with the resolution for me was "resolved" using the 915resolution package and subsequent hacking of the boot script.
