I used to be a kubuntu user. I posted 2 problems namely that I experienced constant shutdown crashes and also I cannot use konqueror to web browse as an ordinary user.
I then received my free ubuntu cd thru the mail and proceeded to install it over my kubuntu partition. I did not have the shutdown crash and no problems with firefox web browsing.
I read in the ubuntu docs that it was possible to install kde(which I prefer over gnome) without installing the rest of the kubuntu files by "kde-core".
so I proceeded and "sudo aptitude install kde-core".
And voila-so far no shutdown crash and I can use konqueror as an ordinary user!
Upon advice of the fellas at ubuntu forum, I am now posting this experience in this kubuntu forum to give the idea to help solve kubuntu problems...
I do hope this will help...
