nasty graphics on shutdwn/restart with kernel 2.6.20-16

in both ubuntu and kubuntu when I shutdwn or restart the screen gets real funky. I don't know how to describe it but its like real pixelated and the vertical hold is off. It is a random thing also. Anyone else experience this??

I tried Enlightenment once, it was pretty cool.

When I booted from the CD just now, it did that when I closed out of my session.

I experience the same problem, and also it will not shut down properly, I must shut it down from the button, but not always, sometimes it shuts down like it should, but still the nasty screen.

After I applied updates to my new install of 7.04, on restart I just get VGA mode and if I do a restart I don't get the boot loader anymore. I have to power down to get it.
