nvidia driver defaulting to vga need dvi

I have a bad card when i plug my monitor into the vga port it has a blue tint. This hasn't been a problem because i use the dvi to vga adapter and everything works fine. Now I am running into a problem though. When I install the nvidia driver and change xorg from nv to nvidia the restart x it switches over to the vga port on my card and the dvi port just shows a blank screen till i push ctrl alt f1. I know this because I plugged my monitor into there and it worked. In my situation though I need to use the DVI how do i do this?

i been searching literally all day on this have been playing with options like connected monitor etc. and even tryed the ignore crt. I am just stumped on this. Is it trying to send a digital signal to the dvi i wonder and my vga isn't picking it up or is it just dropping signal not sure either way can't seem to get a fix. Any ideas would be appreciated.
