    Making Kubuntu 7.04 MultiMedia friendly - like Mint?

    Just installed Kubuntu on a fairly fast clone. Now I would like all the multi media stuff to just work. What is the easiest way to do this? I have a dvd player and a dvd burner and I would like to be able to work with all the sound files and the movie formats and even an iPod. Perhaps an FAQ somewhere?

    thanks,
    charles.....

    First, install firefox.

    Open a terminal window and type:

    apt-get update

    (Be sure your /etc/apt/sources.list is updated with good sources)

    Then,

    apt-get install firefox

    as root. Then install Automatix:

    You can use this app to install codecs, flash plugins and other media players for Kubuntu. You can burn CDś/DVDś w/ K3B. You can listen to music w/ XMMS.

    Here is a list of my /etc/apt/sources.list for your reference:

    $ more /etc/apt/sources.list
