Help With Installing Kubuntu On RAID Array

I have been unsuccessful in finding any documentation regarding how to install Kubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) directly upon a nVidia RAID array - does anyone have advice on how such is done, or can anyone provide pointers to the appropriate documentation?

Attached to an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard are 4 SATA hard disks (configured as 2 RAID-1 volumes), an AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor, and 2 PATA DVD-RW drives. Both RAID volumes have existing partitions containing Windows XP as well as data, in addition to unused space which was reserved for a Linux installation. I do not wish to destroy any of the existing partitions.

I found the FakeRaid Howto (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto) - is the FakeRaid Howto process the only workable procedure to accomplish the goal? I am surprised that FedoraCore has support during installation for dmraid, but Ubuntu/Kubuntu apparently do not.

I also found the SATA RAID Howto (http://www.ubuntu-in.org/wiki/SATA_RAID_Howto), which unfortunately does not work for Kubuntu, apparently due to differences between GParted and QtParted.

    Thanks!

FYI - I was mistaken - despite what I have read to the contrary in a DistroWatch review, based upon today's experiences, Fedora 7 also has issues installing directly upon an existing RAID array. >
