    A series of CD problems

OK firstly, I am very new to this and have never dabbled in any of this before, so I apologise if whatever the problem is is glaringly obvious.

I downloaded a file (kubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso) and burnt it to a disk in order to install it as a dual boot system. However when I restart the computer (changing the BIOS to boot from the CD drive) it takes longer than usual but boots up the normal windows XP.

    Can anyone offer any help?

Probably you burned your CD as "data" rather than as "ISO". Most burning apps have a special menu item to burn a CD "As ISO Image". That's what you have to do.

Ah that would make sense. I burnt it using the inbuilt windows tool. I'll give it a go now, cheers.
