I have a new install of Kubuntu Feisty with some strange behavior associated with the login dialog, only when booting from power on or restart. The login after logout is not affected. When the login screen appears my user name is displayed. When I type the first character of my password a dot does not appear. If I just continue to type in the password the login fails. If I type a space or double type the first character the login succeeds and KDE loads as expected. Is this a known behavior? Is there a fix for this? I have tried having a user name not displayed and the same thing occurs when I type in my user name.
