I tried Ubuntu 7.04 on my Dell Inspiron 640m and it worked almost out of the box.
The decided on Kubuntu as I prefer the KDE interface. So downloaded the iso, checked the md5,and burned to a cd.
Unfortunately the Boot process is stucked at the "Loading Kernel" popup box-that is the one that displays the progress bar. The progress bar goes all the way but it remains there.
What seems to be the problem? In Ubuntu I don't have this problem. The kernel loading box displays for only a moment.
