    upgrading from 6.10 to 7.04

    Hello,

I started my upgrade before I left the office last night. Came in this morning and my upgrade dialog's were locked up. I terminated them and went to Adept updater. I could see that my source lists are pointing to feisty and my upgrade list is large and ready to do mostly upgrades with a few removes and a few installs. That looks good actually.

When I hit the "Apply Updates" button, I get:

"There was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages."

Is there a log file I can read to give me some detail on which packaged are the problem?

Does anybody know what the next steps to correct this would be anyway?

Heh - just noticed "commiting" is misspelled.

I managed to hit the "Show Details" button before the commit change error modal dialog popped up and this is the text:

    *** stack smashing detected ***: /usr/bin/perl terminated
    Aborted
    Setting up debconf (1.5.13ubuntu1) ...
    *** stack smashing detected *** /usr/bin/perl terminated
    dpkg: error processing debconf (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script killed by signal (Aborted)
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    debconf

    Does this help?

I ran aptitude and that fixed all my problems.
