No LiveCD boot on Lenovo AMD Sempron desktop

I have a late-model Lenovo AMD Sempron desktop box that can't LiveCD boot (and therefore not install) Kubuntu 7.04 (or Unbuntu 7.04). Starts to boot, but very slowly compared to other boxes, and totally hangs the system when the desktop is being rendered. Waited over an hours without resolution.

Boots other LiveCDs fine. The Kubuntu CD works fine on other boxes.

    Ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

Do you have another cd/dvd drive available for testing. I once had similar problem. the drive would play cd/dvd's but would not run the live cd. Dropped in another drive and no problem.

    Might be worth a shot.

Hmmm, the CD drive runs other LiveCDs fine, but I'm willing to experiment.

Anyone know of a boot option for a direct, text-only HD install? (thereby bypassing the LiveCD session)

      Thanks!

No. You need to use the Alternate Cd to make a text install.

Did you burn your disc at a very slow speed (4X) ?

This may (or may not) be the problem.
