    Yikes!

    Since going Kubuntu I find that my restart button is gone. I now have only log out, lock screen, switch user, suspend and hibernate.

    What to do?

      What happens when you click on "Log Out"? On mine another GUI window comes up that includes a button for "Restart".

          OK, I think I found it. Open kcontrol;

          Code:
          kdesu kcontrol
          Expand "KDE Components" then open "Session Manager". Is "Offer shutdown options" checked? If not, check it.

            Nice try. Did the changes and rebooted, still missing in action....

              If you open "System Settings" then the Advanced tab, and the Session Manager, does it show the same thing there? If that setting doesn't fix the problem, I can't find anything else to try with my limited knowledge. Maybe someone knows what file to edit to turn this feature on. Anyone?

                  In the main Kmenu. Click on the "K" logo at the bottom left of your screen. Click on System Settings.

                      Well, if the "Offer shutdown options" box is checked, I don't know how else to work on your problem. Maybe someone else will chime in?

                          Just to check the obvious...

                          Have you tried restarting the computer since making these changes?

                              Hi,

                              I just had the same problem, and after opening System Settings>Advanced>Session Manager and in the Default Shutdown Option changing it from 'End Current Session' to 'Restart Current Session' I now have all the usual options (log out/ suspend/ hibernate/ restart/ turn off) when selecting Log Out from the KMenu.

                              I haven't dared reboot to check that the setting will remain

                              Hope that helps...
