monitor flickering

Hi,
have installed 7.04 from standard live cd. Monitor is flickering at 60 Hz and in the vendor list I do not find my Sony Multiscan E400. Seems to be a very rare model.
Now, where can I enter the correct screen modeline? I do not find any XF86config in /etc/X11. Thanks for any help!

I think this is the file you want:

/etc/X11/xorg.conf


Alternately you can "reconfigure" X with this cmd line:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

txs, I have it now at 70Hz - not good (monitor should be able to do 96), but sufficient :-).
I believe I still have to figure out how (and what) to enter data of graphics card.
