Kubuntu on my laptop

Hey,
I'm tryin to install kubuntu 7.04 on my averatec av6200H60-01 and am not having any luck. The graphical install hangs till reboot. The text install throws the following errors.

MP-BIOS bug : 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
ata1.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x40)
ata1.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x40)
ata1.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x40)
ata1.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x4)
ata1.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x4)

Has anyone seen this before? Or has anyone gotten Kubuntu to install on an Averatec Laptop? Any help would be appreciated.

In the meantime, you may try to boot with noapic as additional option.
