I have had Kubuntu in my machines since Hoary Hedgehog (didn't like Gnome, after tried it for several months). And I have encountered this error frequently, at boot time, and when running different apps. The latest incarnation, while building a help index:
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
Major opcode: 145
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
Major opcode: 145
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device
INDEXDIR: /home/ppyo/.kde/share/apps/khelpcenter/index/
FINDCMD: find /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/ -name index.docbook
Creating index for 'kde_application_manuals'
htdig failed
I think this is related to X.org and a watcom tablet device. I tried to delete the device from X configuration, but X croaked.
I have a 2.5 GHz Dell with 1Gb Ram, 80 Gb hdd, flat panel display, etc. It came with Windoze (kept for games) and installed Dapper on it. The error appeared a couple of times, but I ignored it. Upgraded to Edgy, same error, but a little more severe. Installed Feisty afresh with the result displayed above.
What can I do?
