Problems in the begining of the instalation process

Hello! I had installed the 6.06 when it was released and I wanted to install the last version, the 7.04.

But I wanted to make a clean installation, removing the 6.06 first and then installing the 7.04.

So I did, but when it boots, after selecting the first option (Install, as it is the alternate CD), it gives me two different messages, depending on the situation:

if the mouse is connected (it is a generic PS2 mouse, but it worked perfectly in 6.06):
    I get the message:
    "22.713929 udevd-event [1516]: run_program '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit
    "<6> input: PS/2 Generic Mouse as /class/input/input2
    And nothing else happens.

if the mouse is not connected:
    I get the message:
"Trying to enable the frame buffer."
    And nothing else happens.

The memory modules are both OK (ran memtest for a long time, no errors reported)

I would really like to install this version, but I couldn't do it.
The md5 are all right, and to make sure, I downloaded it again from another mirror, but the same problem happend.

My computer (not the best one, but hey, i live in Brazil...)
    Pentium 4 1,7GHz
    Asus P4SDR-VM
    768 MB RAM (PC-133)
    Seagate 40GB
    Pioneer DVR-110D DVD Burner
    LG 4480B Combo Drive
PCI: I have 1 PCI-to-USB board (chipset: VIA), a sound card and a dial-up modem (even though I rarely use it).
The graphics card is integrated, a SiS 650GL
I believe that everything else is not necessary to be posted

    Does anyone have any suggestion?

There is a bug in the latest kernel around PS2. We'll just have to wait for the fix. It has been logged and is being looked at.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know about that bug.

So, lets wait for version 7.xx or until this bug is fixed.

      Again, thanks for the reply.
