I always setup at leat 3 partitions /boot / and /home.
I do this on a test machine where I have several other OS's installed.
On install of kubuntu, I selected the custom partitioning method and
everything works except that the install won't proceed without formatting /boot.
This is a bad decision to force the format of /boot and many will have that other os
or other linux installs in place and going thru a rescue process is not easy .
I would much prefer to to see an option for not formating partitions other than /
such as an existing /home /boot etc.
