    kubuntu won't boot until I press ctrl+alt+del

It's a very weird problem, the boot process hangs at "Configuring network interfaces..." but if I press ctr+alt+del will boot normally instead of reboot

I can see the message by pressing ctrl+F8 (well, I think is F8)

is there any problem with the networkmanager?

I use feisty updated up to today

The problem started when I booted my laptop with the ac adapter off

    any hint?

I know of some laptops that will turn off Network cards to "save" battery power. It could be hanging up here because the network card is in a "non-ready" state. Now I can't explain why it doesn't reboot when that keying is used, but again it could have something to do with the power mode. Some BIOS have settings that you can set for that independent of the OS. Try looking in there. Do you have this problem with the Power Adapter plugged in? If so, it more than likely isn't what I stated, but still worth a look at the BIOS settings.

I think it's not a BIOS probem, the boot process was fine when I installed feisty, the problem begun when I booted the laptop with the ac switched off, but when I switched the ac on, the problem didn't get away

I have noticed that if wait for something like a minute the boot process continues normaly

Don't know what could be wrong

What kernel are you booting from? I know I was having a slow boot process, but when I did an update the other day, it included kernel 2.6.20-14-generic. Since then I had a faster boot.

After todays update I have the same problem on my desktop machine..
I thought it might have to do with the bcm43xx, firmware so I deleted and installed
ndiswrapper...but the boot issue remaind the same...
Also the system services monitor is now broken. Will not load any services.
Hope its just a flawed update and will repair itself on the next round of updates..

            Found a temporary fix...

All seems to be working now.
