No Media In hda and fd0 error!

I've been using Feisty nicely recently, only cds wouldn't automount - in fstab, i removed the noauto lines from hda hdb and fd0.

I also changed the permissions for hda to 666

Now the pc won't boot, give errors about no media in hda and errors with fd0

I can't even boot up with the live cd, or any other live cd such as knoppix

    Any ideas please?

The only time I've seen it was impossible to boot up from a live CD was when the hda (C: drive) HD was physically broken, putting another HD in it solved the problem.
As a matter of fact, I swapped the hda and hdb drives, something you might be able to try.
Make sure you have them set correctly as Primary and Secondary.
Once you're able to boot from a live CD you might want to inspect the HD with something like the GParted live CD.
