    Scratch my last post.

BUG: NMI Watchdog detected LOCKUP on CPU0, eip c02eb2d2, registers:
    Modules linked in: ()
Thats more of a hardware/motherboard/system clock issue.
I know of these things but not the fixes.

      Hmm.

Well, is it possible to upgrade to Feisty through dist-upgrade? I'm kind of reluctant to click the button/type the command, as I don't know exactly what it'll do.

        Upgrade from what?

You can do it from 6.10 edgy https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FeistyUpgrades

But if you can't get edgy to go, that idea is a wash.

Just so you know, this machine I'm using now I could never get dapper or edgy to work with it, but it's only a couple months old. I ended up putting Vector/Pclinux/Mepis tri-boot on it. But I did burn a feisty herd 5 disk the other day and have done several live disk test runs on it and it has ran beautifully.
So my assumption is that feisty has a lot better hardware support. Maybe you will find the same results.

I'm on Dapper right now, so I take it I'd have to go through Edgy first, though I don't know if that would cause unnecessary... things.

Anyway, I think I've narrowed the problem down to my cheap motherboard, as I can boot the ISO into VMware. (The processor is an Intel Pentium D (dual core), so I'm highly doubtful that could cause problems anyway.)

you can always try the alternative cd. I first switched to those because of a terror ati card that I couldn't get working any other way.

FWIW I could not get Herd 5 to boot either.

I am finding that some issues may be related to opening K3B as user not Root.

I burned a Beta tonight and will post what happens after I try it.
