Memory test - documentation

Where can I find more info on what the memory test on the CD/DVD does and the report results mean?

We ran the test on a PC with new fast memory and every test passed except test 7. What is specific to test 7? It does explain the intermittent crashes, but I would like to know more before trying to convince the guys at the shop that the memory is faulty and that their memory test should have reported it so. I think they ran a test in windows which might not have tested the upper ranges where this fault was found.
