nForce2 Intermittent sound

Im new to linux and thought id try Kubuntu as my first distro.

Everything was working fine for about a month. Now every now n then i get intermittent sound problems.

When playing sounds I get a second of sound then a second of silence then sound then silence this repeats indefinitely like pulsed sound. Sometimes if the computer has been left off and then booted the sound is fine.

I was having the problem last night and decided to reinstall Alsa using synaptic. Straight away the sound was fine again, but i have turned the machine on tonight to find it has stopped once again i have tried rebooting etc and just don't know what else to try.

I'd be greatful for some help. I really do like using this as an OS.

I am not really sure sounds like a compatibility or some kind of driver problem but im only slightly above linux newbie. Just thought i'd recommend maybe try oss and see if that works just open like kaffeine then select xine engine parameters and change audio from also to oss see if that fixes it.
