I've been running Feisty for quite a while. At the initial install, it found my wireless card without any problem and I was up and running immediately.
Last night, everything was fine. I did a fairly large update (something like 20+ packages needed updating), one (kde db) failed, everything still working great.
I powered off and got some sleep.
This morning, I boot and the system isn't even finding my wireless card.
I have swapped the card between both pcmcia ports - no joy
I've inserted another card (same vendor, different model) and rebooted - no joy.
I've searched the forum, didn't see anything that seemed similar to this problem.
Possible causes I can think of:
Card bad (tested, not the issue)
pcmcia connector bad (update - found a pcmcia usb card, installed and it works - connector isn't the problem)
pc mother board screwed somehow (updated - since card works, probably not the issue)
last night's updates broke something ()
I don't know what to check next - any suggestions are welcomed.
OTOH...this is an oooolllld laptop. Maybe this is the excuse I've been waiting for to get a shiny new laptop...ooooooooooo.....
TIA
Doug
Tried numerous reboots - no joy.
Shut system down, walked away for several hours, restarted - magic...card is found and working just fine.
Who knows...time heals all wounds.
