Dell Inspiron 1720, Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn, DVD drive not detected

Hello everyone,

I bought a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop and installed Kubuntu 7.04 on it. But the problem is that the DVD drive is not detected. I find that weird because I was able to install Kubuntu from a DVD using that same drive. But when I boot into Kubuntu the drive is not detected.

I would appreciate it if somebody could help me

I've got it working now. I had to add the device file manually, like this:

mknod /dev/hda b 3 0

All I have to do now is to figure out how to make it do that automatically.
