Me too, as I have to admit ... it this were my usb drive, however, I'd test it with Knoppix, Mepis 7 or even plain Debian to make sure that the drive (read: file system) is not causing any trouble - if accessed by the "right" version of Linux (?).

Sad to say, but I'm giving it up. Will try another distribution and see how it works.
