External HD suggestions

Hi all,

I've finally got round to buying a HD to back-up (after my new iPod's DB was hosed and I have to re-rip all the CDs- joy!). A USB drive seems the way to go- is there anything I should be aware of, or any drives that are particularly good or bad?

Some of the files to back-up are from my old Windows, does that mean I need to use FAT32?

Any USB storage device should be good enough.
If you want this drive to be writable in both Windows and Linux, then yes, it needs to be formatted in FAT32.
