    MP3 Player Issue

    Hi all.

I'm having some trouble connecting to my Samsung YP-T9JAB/XAA mp3 player.

When I connect my player to my computer's USB port, the player shows that it's connected, sometimes digiKam pops up, crashes, and repeats that cycle. That's sometimes, most times, nothing happens.

I tried Adept, typed in "Samsung" and installed "yepp" and "sulu", still nothing.

I tried sudo fdisk -l and it's not showing up too, which is confusing me due to the "connected" message on my player

    Any suggestions and/or remedies?

    Any remedies?

    Re: MP3 Player Issue

Try Amarok, there should be an option in the device section that will work with your player.

My Zen V plus is recognized as a camera as well but still works as a player in amarok.

Plug it in and look at the output of the command 'dmesg' - it should (hopefully) say some things relating to usb and scsi...

        Re: MP3 Player Issue

I tried Amarok, but my player doesn't have a manual connect button, so as far as I can see, that's a no go.

As for "dmesg", the relevant data, heres the output:

[75111.918547] sd 6:0:0:0: Attached scsi disk sdc
        [75111.918611] sd 6:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 0
        [81875.537482] usb 5-8: USB disconnect, address 118
[81887.871158] usb 5-8: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 119
        [81888.007069] usb 5-8: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
        [81892.604608] usb 5-8: USB disconnect, address 119

        [81908.307348] usb 5-8: USB disconnect, address 120

I'm clueless as to what this means though

Assuming this line comes just after you've plugged in your player, this means your MP3 player's storage is (or should be) available as /dev/sdcn, where n is probably 1. Why KDE doesn't then automount it is our next problem, unless the following applies.

However, I'm curious as to the timestamps in the output you posted... Can you post the whole shebang (it's long, I know) rather than just those lines?

(Tip: If you run dmesg before plugging it in too, you might be able to see where the new lines are added from...)

When I try to post my dmesg to this forum, I get

So I'll beak it don in a few posts.
