Re: Audio CD insertion causes crash/freeze, need help!

YAY! the CD situation is fixed!

I went in to Control Center and checked file associations. There were 2 that had to be removed, one that was "unknown" (scary!) and sound juicer. After removing them, I inserted the CD and K3B came up, allowing me to rip the CD

    Thanks guys, very very much!

Very good! Persistence pays off. I am glad that you found the assistance offered of value - that is what we aim to do. So (as dibl would say) for your efforts, a kudo to you as well.

Aw shucks, y'all are too kind.

One wonders why Ubuntu chose to do some of the things they did with Kubuntu...like why they didn't put the normal KDE control center on the main menu but substituted the silly system settings thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the "K-box" as I call it, but just curious about some of their choices.

Some say "samon" while others say "salmon"

IMHO, I think that each branch of *ubuntu development strives to establish its own unique identity. If Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu all looked the same out of the box, how would they set them selves apart from each other?
