Hardware compatibility

Hi,
I plan on buying a notebook computer soon. How can I make sure that it will be compatible with Kubuntu before I buy it? What should I check for? Most sales reps act as though they just fell from the sky when I mention linux. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'd burn the live versions of my favourite distro to CDs and tell the sales rep that it's gonna be "no boot no party"

Well I know "Dell" does not have a big selection of notebooks (1) with ubuntu preloaded on it, but you should check it out none the less. http://www.dell.com/content/topics/s...=19&l=en&s=dhs only I'm not sure wether it all works right out of the box (well 3D graphic stuff that is).
