    sound skips on playback

I just installed kubuntu feisty on my compaq with an AMD sempron processor and ATI Radeon video card and an ATI IXP SB400 AC'97 audio controller

The problem I'm having is when ever I play a song in a media player (any of them) ogg, or a cd or otherwise, it plays like someones holding down the fast forward button.

any ideas how to fix this?

BTW it isn't the real time buffer in the sound settings. I tried that.

Did you try reinstalling the codecs? I can't remember when, or what I was playing, but I had this issue with some kind of multimedia file.
I reinstalled the codec packages and tried again. Problem was solved this time.

Did you try a player other than the one you are currently using?

Yup. I tried it on Kaffeine as well as amarok.

Mmm... I think they both use xine, which would cause no difference. Try VLC.
            For external use only.
