This is very feasible, and should work fine as long as all 3 drives are running. Not to question your scheme -- I also have 3 hard drives running in my rig -- but have you considered that you have designed a system that has 3 times the chance of breakage due to drive failure, as compared to a filesystem that lives entirely on one drive? Just checking --

It may however be a simple matter of disk space available (?).

        Re: Three Hard drives?

If you have the luxury of space and money for hard drives, here's a way to use 3 drives that supports a lot of Linux-learning, while keeping important data pretty safe:

        Drive #1: Linux System#1 and /home/Important Data Type 1
        Drive #2: Linux System#2 and /home/Important Data Type 2
Drive #3: Linux System#3 (the silly one) and /home/Data Backups Type 1 + Type 2

Not that data copied from one hard drive to another is entirely safe -- backups to removable media, stored in some OTHER person's house, is the way to be truly safe with your data. But, as you can see, I'm prepared for 1 drive failure at all times with no loss of productivity. (I guess this means I'll have a power supply failure ......).
