Feisty cannot see USB2 hard drive

Hi, I am a newbie just getting into Fiesty F, it seems quite easy after my previous attempt at mandrake. There is one problem, various threads seem similar but do not give an answer.
I have two USB-2 external hard-drives, both work on Windows PCs. On FF one of them comes up like a memory stick and works fine, the other cannot be seen.
    Any ideas?

    cheers, Baiter.

How is the second USB HD formated?

      Aaah, there is a difference.
The (older) drive that works is 40Gb FAT32 in 2 partitions.
The problem drive is 250Gb NTFS, one partition.

Iḿ not sure what the difference is between formats, but FAT32 does not seem to be used much now.

Another thread raised the question of NTFS compatibility, but had no conclusions about what to do.
