    USB anomaly

    Hi,

I have an Nforce2 chipset (6USB ports). AMD Athlon XP 2800+.....Kubuntu 7.04 (all updates installed)

    Problem.
Have both USB thumbdrive (1Gb) and an EPSON scanner. I can't have both plugged in a the same time or the Thumbdrive is not recognized (the order in which I plug them in doesn't matter, happens _all_ the time). Opened up the hardware viewer and my thumbdrive isn't listed.

As soon as I unplug scanner, the thumbdrive is immediately recognized again and mounted. Plug the scanner in and thumbdrive disappears (until I unplug the scanner).

What could possibly be going wrong? (if anyone needs more info, please ask. I'm not sure what info is needed, or how to get it).

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    ayro

    Re: USB anomaly

Plug in one, execute "lsusb". Plug in the other, "lsusb". Plug in both, "lsusb".
Attach these (or put them in code tags) here.
    For external use only.

        That is interesting.
I assume you have multiple sets of USB ports--what happens if you pug them into separate ones?
        For external use only.

          Re: USB anomaly

I tried the thumb drive in all the other USB ports on my computer. Still no luck. The moment I plug in the scanner, lsusb gives the same output as above....and the thumb drive stops responding.
