    wireless keyboard/mouse at boot

I have a logitech wireless kbd/mouse and they do not function at boot. Once booted, I have to unplug and plug in the wireless station before they will function. They were functioning properly (usable upon boot without having to unplug / plug in) on my previous computer (also running Feisty).

Next time you boot with them plugged in, go to a console and execute "lsusb" (you'll obviously need another keyboard). Do they show up in there?

Here's the result of lsusb BEFORE unplugging and replugging when they don't work:

Bus 002 Device 004: ID 046d:c707 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c703 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0451:2036 Texas Instruments, Inc. TUSB2036 Hub
      Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
      Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

Here's the result AFTER when they do work:

Bus 002 Device 006: ID 046d:c703 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 0451:2036 Texas Instruments, Inc. TUSB2036 Hub

I'm now having the same problem on Gutsy (was hoping the upgrade would cure this).

        lsusb before:
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 046d:c707 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c703 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0451:2036 Texas Instruments, Inc. TUSB2036 Hub
        Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
        Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

        lsusb after:
Bus 002 Device 006: ID 046d:c703 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 0451:2036 Texas Instruments, Inc. TUSB2036 Hub
        Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
        Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

        Anyone?

Is this a older computer? Because if it is, it could just be a mother board/BIOS problem, I have a usb keyboard and on one computer it works at boot time, on the other on only sometimes, and it's only because I have a old and weird BIOS. So it could just be the same for you. I ussume this is connected via USB, right? Hope this might explane it.

No, this is a very new computer (MB came out this year). Yes, it is connected via USB.

Well then I would go into the BIOS, and MAKE SURE that the USB keyboard option is enabled ,because I'm almost positive that this is NOT a Linux problem.

Probably isn't, otherwise it wouldn't work at all.
I see you've got a USB hub there. Are your mouse and/or keyboard plugged into the hub? If so, try plugging them in directly.

There's no hub - the receiving for the kbd/mouse is plugged directly into the USB port (maybe that receiver acts as a hub?). No other USB devices are plugged in. I went into the BIOS and legacy USB kbd/mouse support was enabled. I disabled it to no affect. Thanks for the suggestions - anything else I could try?

                    Re: wireless keyboard/mouse at boot

There is the occasional problem with USB hubs. It's possible that the makers of that motherboard cheated, and what's mounted on the motherboard is really a hub. Not especially likely, though.

As for the problem or solution, I don't know. Anyone?

The MB is a S2915A2NRF (Tyan) so I doubt they skimped on the USB controllers. Thanks for the suggestions though. Anyone else have any thoughts?
