iomega external HDD read only

Hi there,

I have a new 500GB external iomega HDD formated in FAT32, it worked fine for a day or so and now completely intermittently becomes read only, I have checked the permissions and I am set as the user owner with read write permissions. Does anyone have any suggestions? The only thing I can come up with is that the disk it self is corrupt. HELP!

How do you mount it? Automatically or manually?

If you have an entry in your fstab, add the option "rw" to it.

You say it is external, though, so I suspect not. Instead, go to media:/ (in Konqueror), find the drive, right-click > Properties > Mounting. Poke around in there.
