battery not present after upgrade

Just upgraded my laptop and battery icon in system tray says battery not present. Laptop still works fine though.
any ideas?

Mine did the same thing after an update of HAL. I assume you mean that you did a regular software upgrade and not a distribution upgrade, is that right?

I checked everything out to make sure I didn't see any other issues, and rebooted. The battery was detected after a reboot and now all is well.

Your mileage may vary.

Same here. After a reboot it was back.
