keyboard stops taking input after login on main user account

keyboard stops taking input after login on main user account. At first i thought my kbd had died. so i bought a new one and it did the same thing!
I then logged in on a different account and the kbd's work just fine.

on the main account the mouse is the only form of input. how can i fix this

    Please Help

Problem is probably a bad configuration somewhere. If, before logging in, you switch to a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and issue "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg", this may fix it, but it may not.

Also, while you're in the terminal, investigate settings in /etc/X11.

Thank-you for the help. I tried it out and it still wont work on main user...Im logged in on an alt account and its obviously working.

I tried various settings [pc101 vs pc104] and no change. works fine at the user login and as soon as it stats loading the desktop varibles it stops...You cant even change the num lock or caps lock.

Anyone know where they keymaps are stored? That's my next guess.

listed in red that view wont open
          "!platform-i8042-serio-0-event-kbd" 9 bytes

Re: keyboard stops taking input after login on main user account

Since the other account is working no worries, the simplest thing to do would be to mv(move) ~/.kde dir to ~/kde_backup and then login. KDE will remake that dir automatically. Hope this helps.

Note: if you have settings that you really love to keep without redoing .. simply copy those from the ~/.kde_backup dir into ~/.kde .. but be careful .. as you may copy the keyboard problem back again.
