How did you install the driver? (And whioh version did you install)

Did you choose the driver from the KDE control center?

I downloaded it from adept and used it in the system settings panel.

        IceDigger -- did you install
        Code:
        nvidia-glx-new
        , after first installing
        Code:
        linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r`
        ?

After doing those, did you open a console window, and enter
        Code:
        sudo nvidia-xconfig
? And if you're wanting the Beryl eye candy, then you need to make it
        Code:
        sudo nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals --composite
And finally, in the console, enter
        Code:
        sudo nvidia-settings
which will bring up the driver utility, and in that one open the XServer Configuration panel, set resolution and refresh rate as you want them, then click "apply", choose "yes" on the new screen, and then click "save to x configuration file (in the lower right of the panel), and give it an "OK" or "YES" or "apply" when it pops up the little window showing xorg.conf as the target file.

After doing these things, you should restart the xserver with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. You should get the result you are looking for (crossing my fingers ....).

Mine did that also. I changed the monitor to a LG 774; which it is btw and not the generic 800x600 it thought it was, and all was joy joy.

If your monitor is NOT listed, I'd try to set it up as a generic 1024x768 and restart 'x'. Also google your monitor model for the freqs, and input them by hand into xorg.conf

mine happen to be horiz 30-71 vert 50-160

          Hope this helps.

Now I have been there too. Solution: my backed-up xorg.conf from Edgy, seems to work just fine
