Does Anyone Know How To Make This Card Work With Linux TV Programs

Hey guys I am going nuts trying to get this tuner card to work in linux.
It is supposed to work no problem and I have been told it works.

This is what PCI Kinfo Center says:
02:07.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works inc WinTV PVR 150
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 19
    Memory at e0000000 (32bit, prefetchable)[size=64M]
    Capabilities:<access denied>

I have tried it with TvTime, Xawtv, and Zapping none of them let me Set up anything and just crash.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks.

Kaffeine is reasonable for testing DVB (wouldn't use it for watching, though - that falls to MythTV).

A quick Google shows that the card uses the "ivtv" module. If
    Code:
    lsmod | grep ivtv
    comes up empty, try
    Code:
    sudo modprobe ivtv
Reload Kaffeine, and you should have a "Digital TV" option if all's well.

      HI,

      Thanks for the reply.

This is what I got from lsmod | grep ivtv:

      ivtv 134544 0
      i2c_algo_bit 8712 1 ivtv
      cx2341x 12804 1 ivtv
      tveeprom 15888 1 ivtv
      videodev 28160 1 ivtv
      v4l2_common 25216 5 cx25840,tuner,ivtv,cx2341x,videodev
      v4l1_compat 15236 2 ivtv,videodev
      i2c_core 22784 9 i2c_ec,wm8775,cx25840,tuner,ivtv,i2c_algo_bit,tv eeprom,nvidia,i2c_nforce2

And all i got from sudo modprobe ivtv was a new command prompt with a blinking cursor.

Ok then in kaffiene i dont get a choice for tv.

Thanks for the help and anymore would be great.

My guess is that the install script has a line that isn't complete, e.g. unmatched quotation marks.
Go to /etc/modprobe.d and poke around in there. If you see anything for ivtv, post it, if you can.
        For external use only.

Ok I checked in /etc/modprobe.d and didn't find anything.

            Any other thoughts?

              OK, let's be hackish...

              Code:
              sudo modprobe -r ivtv
              sudo modprobe ivtv
Then look at the output of dmesg and post anything ivtv-related here.

Also: is there a /dev/dvb directory? If so post the output of
              Code:
              ls -l /dev/dvb/adaptor0/
              - could be a permissions thing.

Ok I did the first two things and got a cursor blinking at the command prompt both times after running the commands.

                  Ok dmesg gave me this:

Oh by the way I tried KdeTv after running what you said and I was able to get the channels scanned in but it is all fuzz and no picture and no sound.

Oh, my mistake - I was assuming you were using a DVB card but it seems it's an analogue one.

Usual suspects... check aerial, check cables, check you can pick up channels with an ordinary TV with the same aerial in the same place. There's no driver problem - your system seems quite happy in setting it up on /dev/video0.
