    Webcams for Kubuntu Feisty

    Hey everyone,

    Fairly new to linux, though I was using Kubuntu Edgy on my old computer until I recently upgraded to a new one and to Feisty along with it. I'm looking for help regarding a webcam--I had purchased a Creative Labs Optia webcam, having read that I could download the drivers online & that it should work with Linux. But now that I have it, I can't find the driver webpage (or any instructions to get it working) anywhere! Does anyone have advice for getting it up and running, and, barring that, could anyone recommend a webcam available currently at BestBuy (I have credit!) that Just Works or at least Works Easily with Feisty?

      Does it work with Kopete?

      The model of the same name that they're selling at Best Buy right now looks quite different (here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1134701914328 ) and I think has a different number . Hope it still works, but I guess it's worth a shot!

          The one I have, that "just works", looks exactly like the photo that I posted. Not sure about the Best Buy one -- it may just be the angle of the photo that makes it looks different. I haven't ever tried Kopete. Guess I could ... stay tuned!

              After examining the pictures, I'm guessing that they're identical, and the little thing that makes it look like it's wearing headphones is removable.

                Mine must be an early version -- the microphone on mine is below the lens, and I don't have the little "hood" piece. But the base and lens look the same.''

                By the way, mine DID NOT work in Edgy -- I had to install the gspca driver to get it working. Only in Feisty it "just works".

                  Creative NX pro, not working in edgy, perfect in feisty.
