Re: Feisty upgrade killed my dvdrw?

I have a DVD-RW drive. A Lite-On. I have no troubles with it. (It's an SATA drive, though, if that might make any difference.)
Here's the fstab line for it:
    Code:
    /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 auto user,atime,auto,rw,nodev,noexec,nosuid 0 0
    For external use only.

My Asus DRW-1608 P3S IDE/PATA CD/DVD drive works great under Feisty and K3B. Here is what it looks like in fstab:

      /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

Same here, no mount point. Both of my drives are SONY. Both work great and with no entries in the FSTAB file.

Thanks MoonRise your configuration sure throws a monkey wrench in all the xpert opinions. I'll find me another dvdrw.

Not meaning too!! That was the only way I could keep my system from mounting in odd places and just so happens my CD/DVD drives still work.

crossface, I'm gonna throw a lot of questions at you in here. Just warning you.

You are part of the cdrom group, correct?
What is the output of "ls -l /dev/hd*" and "ls -l /dev/scd*"?
              What is your fstab?
              What is your shoe size?
If you drive supports it, does it read/write CDs correctly?
              For external use only.

                I've tried commenting those rows...
the dvd keeps on working correctly, the dvdrw won't automount
