    SB Live! Platinum - 5.1 sound not working?

    Hi all,

    First off I think this new 7.04 release really rocks. 8)

    I've only got one minor issue. Which is I can't seem to get 5.1 sound working. Only get stereo. Since I'm a real movie freak I'd really like having my 5.1 sound working again. I already browsed several websites for info. Can't find a clear solution.

    I use a SB Live! Platinum soundcard. lsmod tells me the "emu10k1"-modules are loaded at startup. I set the soundsystem to "ALSA" instead of the default "autodetect".

    Also tried putting a .asoundrc in my home directory. Here's what is in it:

    pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "surround51"
    slave.channels 6
    route_policy duplicate
    }

    This worked fine on the 6.10 release but doesn't help in 7.04.

    Obviously some things have changed with this release and I would like to hear the golden tip
    Can somebody please elaborate on this subject and help me out here?

    Thx in advance,
    Pr0x1Mus

      @ Moonrise

      Mmm, really? That simple? Can't believe it..., just hitting the Analog/Digital Output Jack switch to turn it "off" did the trick.

      Many, many, many thanks! Guess in my case this issue is resolved.

        Why after Feisty this is an issue I don't know, but so far I know this is 3 for 3.

          One thing is for sure..., I would not have come up with THAT particular solution...

          Maybe someone else can explain a little more why this works and what has changed. What does the A/D Output Jack switch do anyway besides blocking my 5.1 sound?

          Anyway, again, many thanks.
