Mounting and accessing 2nd HDD with Kubuntu installed on it

I believe I ruined my Kubuntu install... it boots into a ramfs built in shell and I don't understand any of the commands it offers when I type "help".

It starts to load Kubuntu and then stops giving me this shell.

OK so I've installed it on another HDD and now have the original HDD on another ATA channel.

I can't get into it though.. please someone post a link or give instructions as simply as possible. I DO have very important data on that system that I have not backed up recently enough. I need to access it. It's on my Desktop mostly but somethings are also in my home folder.

    Thank you,
    Kev

somehow I made a mount point.. I don't remember how.. too paniced... that'll teach me to not back stuff up.

The easiest way to do it would be to open up Konqueror, go to media:/, and look for the drive. From here, you can mount it and browse the filesystem.
      For external use only.

It actually wasn't in media at all, and when I went to the /dev folder I couldn't get access to the partitions. I found it by going to System Settings - Advanced - Disk & File Systems and then I enabled it there and set it up to auto enable.... then it made a mount point in my home directory which allowed me to get into the drive.

I've since changed the mount point to the /mnt folder.
