    Laptop Touchpad Sensitivity Adjustment

This is a minor issue compared to many here, but nevertheless annoying.

There doesn't seem to be any way to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad in Feisty. Basically, on my Acer Aspire 3000 LCi the touchpad is so incredibly sensitive that when I am typing, if I just BRUSH the touchpad it moves the cursor. There has to be a way to turn down the sensitivity. Any suggestions?

Assuming the touchpad is by synaptics, as per the Acer 4650 I'm using as I type, download and install ksynaptics from within adept etc and you should be able to configure it from the system settings menu.

    Hope this helps

      Unfortunately no.

While it installs just fine, I get the following error when I try to use it:

      Shared Memory is not accessible.
Please add the option 'SHMConfig ''on''' into the touch pad section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf
so I check my xorg.conf, and here is what I see:

As you can see, there is no touch pad section at all. I would add one but I have no idea what parameters I would need to enter to make it functional.

      Any ideas?

Here, try this. Someone found a way to get it so that the pointer will move, but that the click function won't work. You do have to edit some files, but it's not that difficult for you read before you act. It has worked great for me. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

            sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
(this is because your xorg.conf does not have touchpad configuration yet)

assuming that you got synaptics touchpad open konqueror and type in address bar
            man:/synaptics
this will show man page of Synaptics touchpad driver
if you got mouse then why not disable touchpad completely
