Dual Monitor - Dual Video Card Problems

I am attempting to get Feisty to work with my dual monitors. I go to "System Settings" then "Monitor & Display". I need to go in to "Administrator Mode" to make any changes. I click on the "Administrator Mode" button. I am asked for my password. I enter it. NOTE: It does not matter what password I enter, I am let in. I make the changes I wish but the "Apply" button never becomes active for me to save the changes I made. Any Ideas?

    Thanks,

Re: Dual Monitor - Dual Video Card Problems

I may be wrong but I think this happens if you manually edit your xorg.conf (or maybe if you install some other x server or driver, e.g. Xfree or xorg or fglrx)

Kubuntu has switched to AIGLX and direct acceleration should be enabled by default from a fresh install. I've seen that there's been a lot of work done to the monitor settings module but I still have problems getting a dual setup working properly. I had it working perfectly until I did an update, but I will say I've had dual monitors working (but not properly, AIGLX got disabled and bugs with my mouse pointer) with a default xorg.conf and using the control panel.

The best guide for dual screens I've found is here: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=221174

With mergedfb I had it working perfectly and full acceleration.

So I'd try that guide, if it doesn't work then you might consider a fresh install and keep a backup of a default xorg.conf, also restoring a backup xorg.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf over your existing one may solve the problem in your original post.
