    kmail folders

    (using 6.06)
I have some folders that have an initial letter followed by 3 dots
    loc...
    s...
    t...
    d...
    Sea...
also I... which is the inbox.
Is there a way to complete the names of these?
    (I have also created
2 sub folders (INA and Linux))
I am unable to delete any folder as the "delete folder" is greyed out.
Also kubicle advised one person to
    Click View>Show Hidden
However "view" has no mention of "hidden"
The Kmail help seems to be even more obtuse than "Man".and I can find no reference to deleting folders.
    (I can create folders)
And what does "expire" or "expire all folders" mean?
Perhaps you could refer me to an online tutorial about Kmail?
    thanks

You've got to widen the folder column using either the splitter dividing the folder view left and the message list on the right or place the mouse over the column headers in the folder view and resize it there.

Not sure about this, maybe it's a permission problem.

This sounds more like a konqueror option to show hidden files, not a kmail one.

About expiring: This can be used to have emails automatically removed if they're older than a certain date.

To delete a folder just right click and chose delete folder in the pop up menu?

Did you check your permissions? Go to
      /home/your_login_name/.kde/share/apps/kmail
      right click the
mail folder and click "permissions." It should say owner can read and write.

Also note that you cannot delete the 'default' folders (local folders, inbox, sent, deleted items etc.), if you cannot delete even the folders you created yourself, then it's probably (an odd) permission problem as Earthwings and podunk mentioned.

Yup, those instructions were for konqueror, nothing to do with kmail

          Re: kmail folders

thanks for your help. I was not clear...I can delete the two folders that I created
However the folders that are listed by only one letter (or 3)
          loc...
          s...
          t...
          d...
          Sea...
also I... which is the inbox. I am unable to delete
. Thanks Kubicle for letting me know that I am not supposed to be able to delete these!
What do these letters " d...t... stand for?
          ( d for deleted perhaps?)
Is there a way to complete the names of these?
          Thanks
(would love to have access to a tutorial!)

            Re: kmail folders

Please don't be offended, but are you sure it's not the splitter/column width as described above? E.g. when I move the splitter to the left, the column gets too narrow to display the whole names of the folders, result: http://dev.gentoo.org/~earthwings/misc/kmail/kmail1.png
Moving the splitter right however gives http://dev.gentoo.org/~earthwings/misc/kmail/kmail2.png

              You are so right!
              I am an idiot.
              It was the splitter/column width.
Thank you for your great forbearance in not blasting me.
