Kmail can't send email???

I was trying to configure my Kmail to work with my Gmail but after following all the correct steps , I can now receive mails but unable to send emails.

i've checked my outgoing settings in Kmail , tried changing the ports fr 465 - 587 & used TSL . but still to no avail.
Any suggestions ??

Are you running a firewall; if so are the smtp ports open outbound? Guarddog for one doesn't include them in its protocol list, you have to add it as 'user defined'

hmm... is it by default installed together with this kubuntu version ?? coz i dun remembered seeing nor installing it to my current syst.

No I don't think any firewall is enabled by default.

Are you sure you've got the server address, your username, your password, and the encryption type (TLS or SSL) set correctly? The details are at http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...y?answer=13287

If that doesn't work, I can't help any further since I use neither Gmail nor KMail

ya..pretty sure. i 've checked it a few times dy. changed the settings too. hmm.. i dun get it either coz everything iis set accordingly .

i even tried setting up thunderbird n the same prob occurs. i can receive but cannot send. funny though. although there's no firewall installed in my comp nor i m using any external 1s.

Hi,
sometimes the internet provider requires that you use their smtp. For example I'm in canada and use VDN. I when I want to send e-mail with Kontact or Thunderbird, I must configure smtp.vdn.ca as outgoing server.
Check that in your Internet provider,

Thanks guys for all the advice.
i solved the prob . I jsut recreate a new outgoing profile using SSL protocol & everything works like a charm now.
