    Amarok And MP3 Files!

Hi guys! Slowly getting my new system up and running and i have come across my first problem. Amarok refuses to play MP3s. I was told that the amarok-xine engine works fine for mp3s, but thats what i am running and they do not play!

Can anyone please give me some help!

    Regards,

    Re: Amarok And MP3 Files!

did u le amarok install the mp3 codec or did u do it manualy

a posible solution is to remove amarok install it again and let it install the codec for itself
of course u got to check that no apt is running

remove amarok whit the adept pakage manager remove anything that has to do whit amarok (3 pakages totaly)
install it again (just the amarok player no codecs) n play n mp3 file whit it
it will tell u it has no mp3 suport n will try to install the mp3 codec just let him n ill work fine at least for me
    cheers

        Re: Amarok And MP3 Files!

try searching the libxine-extracodecs from the multiverse repositories & install it. Amarok should be able to play Mp3 after it.

Hi, I got the same problem in amarok, I'm running 7.04 and libxine-extracodecs is not in the universe or multiverse repositories... also installing the codecs with amarok does not work, it crashes instead. Any idea how I can get libxine-extracodecs (and whetever else I might need to play mp3)

automatix 2 wont install on my machine. it says it has extra dependancies which it cant install? broken dependencies.

Write down what those dependencies are and install them through Adept Manager. I would first uninstall what you have already installed for Automatix first before adding the dependencies just so that things are as clean as possible before reinstalling Automatix.
