i'm a newbie with kubuntu. i've been reading a lot on this site and finally installed kubuntu 6.06. love the way it works and helps me understand how programing goes. i've installed automatix2 both thru command and download (different times). each time i am able to get the software i want or need to use, then when i shutdown and reboot, go to use automatix, it claims i have kubuntu 6.01 (this is good) and the version of auto is for kubuntu 6.1 (bad):-k and shuts down the program. so i will uninstall the 6.1 version and reload the 6.06. i am still able to run anything else i want to except dvd movies. i'm tackle that problem later. my system is from microcenter, ecs mainboard with 64bit amd, 1 gig ram, 6200(?) series geforce pcie video card. all hardware was recognised and installed. i can get more specs on the machine wednesday as i am at work right now. my wife asked me "you're never satisfied with your puter are you?!?" then she played with it a little and said when i get the bugs worked, would it work on hers? thanks for your help and advise. this seems like a great group here.

Re: automatix2
Found the problem in adept repositories: edgy. Removed that one, uninstalled Auto, reboot reinstall and went thru the repositories. All working right now. Also just got my DVD player working. 8)
I also had asked in Ubuntu's forums, here is the address: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...ght=automatix2. Thanks for all your help. This helps guide me away from WXXXXXS!!
