    real audio versus Mplayer

I listen to the BBC radio plays; using Opera, which uses real audio. The real audio window is small and has a button that slides along a bar. If I only want to hear the last part of a play I just mouse over the button and hold a left click and slide the button towards the end of the bar. Also the original BBC window stays open and I can scroll down it while still listening to the play.

However when I use either FF or Konqueror it is Mplayer that comes up. It occupies the whole screen (or at least half) and eliminates the BBC screen. Neither of these browsers have a sliding button on a bar, so they do not allow me to select the last part of a play .
This, for me, is a "killer".
Can I change which audio system is used with FF and Konq?
    (Is edgy the same?)
    Thanks

    I'm fairly certain it's changeable...but I don't know how.
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (yes Gnome) with upgrades applied daily about 0900 UK time. Hardware is Dell Precision 420, 2x 800 MHz PIII, 512 MB RDRAM, nVidia GeForce 6800 128 MB AGP graphics, 18GB SCSI and 500GB IDE HDDs, DVD burner, Hauppage TV card.
